STANDARDS OF ETHICAL CONDUCT

Precious Kids Academy values the worth and dignity of every person, the pursuit of truth, devotion to excellence, acquisition of knowledge, and the nurture of democratic citizenship. Essential to the achievement of these standards are the freedom to learn and teach and the guarantee of equal opportunity for all.

Our primary concern is the student and the development of each student's potential. Employees strive for professional growth and exercise the highest level of professional judgment and integrity.

Instructional Personnel Responsibilities

Employees shall:

• Protect students from conditions harmful to learning, health, safety, and well-being.
• Respect students' rights and encourage independent learning.
• Provide access to diverse viewpoints and relevant educational content.
• Avoid actions that embarrass, demean, or discriminate against students.
• Respect the legal rights of students.
• Maintain confidentiality of student information except when disclosure is required by law.
• Refrain from exploiting relationships with students for personal gain.
• Ensure all students are treated fairly regardless of race, color, religion, sex, age, national origin, disability, marital status, sexual orientation, political beliefs, or family background.

Professional Conduct

Employees shall:

• Maintain honesty and integrity in all professional dealings.
• Treat colleagues with respect and fairness.
• Refrain from harassment, discrimination, intimidation, or retaliation.
• Respect colleagues' civil and professional rights.
• Avoid making false or malicious statements about coworkers.

Training Requirement

All instructional personnel, educational support employees, and administrators are required, as a condition of employment, to complete training on the Standards of Ethical Conduct.

Reporting Misconduct

All employees have a responsibility to report misconduct by instructional personnel or school administrators that affects the health, safety, or welfare of a student.

Examples of misconduct include:
• Obscene language
• Drug or alcohol use
• Disparaging comments
• Prejudice or bigotry
• Sexual misconduct or innuendo
• Cheating or testing violations
• Physical aggression
• Accepting or offering inappropriate favors

Legally sufficient allegations involving Florida-certified educators will be reported to the Office of Professional Practices Services.

Reporting Child Abuse, Abandonment, or Neglect

All employees and agents are mandated reporters and must report any actual or suspected child abuse, abandonment, or neglect.

Signs of Physical Abuse

• Unexplained bruises, burns, cuts, welts, or broken bones
• Fear of going home
• Withdrawal or depression
• Aggressive behavior
• Clothing used to conceal injuries

Signs of Sexual Abuse

• Difficulty walking or sitting
• Torn, stained, or bloody undergarments
• Pain or itching in the genital area
• Unusual knowledge of sexual matters
• Fear of a specific person
• Sudden changes in behavior, appetite, or weight

Signs of Neglect

• Poor hygiene
• Lack of supervision
• Unmet medical needs
• Frequent hunger or fatigue
• Excessive need for adult attention

Patterns of Abuse

A single sign may not indicate abuse; however, repeated physical or behavioral indicators should be taken seriously and reported immediately.

Liability Protections

Any person reporting suspected child abuse, abandonment, or neglect in good faith is protected from civil and criminal liability pursuant to Florida Statute 39.203.

Employers providing employment-related information in good faith are protected under Florida Statute 768.095, unless the information is knowingly false or violates protected civil rights.
